Our Story

Everyone has a story, this is ours……

Pieces of Energy is an expression of love that was created by the Rogak family after their daughter Rebecca was diagnosed with Crohns disease. Their desire to raise funds and awareness for this awful disease morphed when Rebecca took on the responsibility of being the 2015 “Shining Star” for the Eastern Long Island chapter of the Crohns & Colitis Foundation (CCFA).

The Rogak’s pledged to raise $10,000.00 for CCFA, however they did not want to just solicit funds in a traditional way. Together they came up with an innovative concept that enlisted help from friends, family and community members to come together to create inspirational and charming pieces which later were sold to raise money.   Everyone has a story and Pieces of Energy workshops became the perfect springboard where people could share their own experiences while doing something fun, interactive, and meaningful.

After successfully exceeding their fundraising goals, the Rogak family wanted to keep the momentum going. Jennifer (Rebecca’s mom) who has over 20 years experience as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and business owner has partnered with her longtime friend/colleague Diane Sweeney Educator and Founder of Bob Sweeney’s Camp H.O.P.E.

Diane’s own turbulent life experiences and how she decided to cope with them is inspiring and compliments the vision of Pieces of Energy. On February 11, 2002, she lost her beloved husband Bob Sweeney to pancreatic cancer leaving her to raise her three young children ages 5, 7, and 9. Since there were very limited programs at that time to help young widowers and families she diligently worked with Good Shepherd Hospice to create Bob Sweeney’s Camp H.O.P.E. a bereavement program to help families on Long Island. It has been her pride and joy to see it grow and help others in the community.

The name Pieces of Energy reflects the philosophy that we all have energy within us, and when channeled into something with intention, it can have a significant impact on the people and world around us. Jennifer and Diane believe wholeheartedly that “there is enough sunshine in this world for everyone”. It is their intention, to use their synergy together, to help organizations bring awareness and fundraising opportunities for their cause in a way that is fun, creative and effective!
